Atlanta’s Best Hot Chocolate

Now that the weather is cooling down in Atlanta, I find myself craving hot drinks constantly to put a little warmth back into my step. 

I’ve realized that I can’t drink caffeine after 1PM so one afternoon I decided to settle down with Atlantas best hot chocolate at Cacao in the Virginia Highlands.

If you’ve been in Atlanta for a number of years chances are you’ve happened upon the Virginia Highlands with it’s charming stores of spices, Italian food, paper goods and most importantly, chocolate. 

It boasts a couple of other well-to-do stores, but the real gem of the street is Cacao. 

The store is lovely and inviting, like a piece of Paris was flown over here with street side cafe seating and gray tufted booths inside. The hot chocolate isn’t half bad either. Steamed with milk of your choosing, the hot chocolate is made in a flash while you have time to ogle at the other hand made confections and treats. 

I’ve heard they have the most decadent of chocolate cakes, so I will be returning to try that sometime. When the weather is nice you’re definitely going to want to snag a seat outside and enjoy some people (and dog) watching as the locals briskly walk by. 

You can make an afternoon of it and pop into the stores that linger nearby and walk through the lovely neighborhoods to balance out the naughty calories from the Hot Chocolate.

Cacao is located in the heart of Virginia Highlands, just a skip away from the new biscuit restaurant, Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit at 1046 N. Highland Ave. 

While it’s still cold out I highly recommend popping over there for a sip of hot chocolate and a slice of chocolate cake!
