Fall Colors in the City

I’m really hoping this time the hot weather has left us for good. I’m ready to start wearing sweaters  and my Barbour jackets daily, plus I have a lot of tweed that is just dying to come out of their winter hideaway. For the last week we’ve been having amazing Fall weather, not too hot and not too cold, so I started breaking out my rust colored pants now that the temperature seems to be officially on the downward spin.

My infatuation with the color rust has come from a long time of riding horses. My favorite equestrian of all time, George Morris, really made a stance on the equestrian scene by wearing rust colored breeches while he was competing in show jumping and further in his career while he was teaching clinics. Basically, if you idolized him as a rider – which I did and still do – you idolized the way he wore rust and made it look classically timeless, even if it was covered in horse hair and dirt.

Thankfully, these rust colored pants  aren’t covered in dirt but still give me the same amount of satisfaction of the rust-colored breeches I had always wished I had bought while I was a competitive equestrian in my youth- read 5 years ago when I actually had time to ride horses every day. You don’t have to limit the colors you coordinate with the color rust either. It would pair excellently with black, navy, browns of all variety, and especially white. This white peplum top is a really great versatile piece to add to your wardrobe this fall. It can be layered under a sweater for a layered effect, or worn on its own tied accentuated with a scarf. This is my first attempt at a neck scarf and I am not-so-subtly loving how it adds some flight attendant chicness to this professional outfit.

Also some exciting news: my friend Dasha who runs Dasha Crawford photography is offering ALL Darling Down South readers a discount on Holiday photos and sessions from NOW until December 1st! When you go to book her, mention the code DARLING for 15% off ANY photography session you book! Engagement, holiday mini sessions, wedding, portrait, fashion blogging, etc – she is offering the discount to anyone who asks for it! I highly recommend booking her. She has been a pleasure to work with. She’s tall so she always shoots great angles, and she gives great direction. Her photography is always so impressive, somehow she’s edited her photos to resemble film. You will most certainly be seeing more photography around here by her! Be sure to check out her website for more!
