In partnership with Carusele, I was asked to participate in the #ApplyRepeatProtect campaign, sponsored by Walgreens. Although this post has a sponsored element to it, all opinions are my own.

Last month, my family and I escaped the treachery of city life for the cool breezes of Seaside Florida. My only requirement was that we could be walking distance from the beach, a request that was fulfilled and my inner child started planning all the beach activities my heart could muster.

Like laying in the sun and reading a book.

Alright, so this child was more thinking along the lines of powering down her brain for 3 days while soaking up some sunshine in a responsible fashion- responsibly meaning loading up on SPF and not purposefully frying my skin off the first day. I already wear SPF daily (typically 50 on my face and use a daily moisturizer that has 15 in it) but when I head to the beach it’s 50 SPF all day. I’m an apply, repeat, protect type of person and apply multiple times during the day to avoid a burn, IE future wrinkles and sunspots. I’ve been known to go through more than one tube of this stuff during a weekend trip to the beach so I cut some cost (but not protection) with Walgreens brand sunscreen

As it always goes, someone always forgets something on their trip to the beach. 12 outfits for a 3-day trip, check. Multiple beach blankets, check. Sunscreen- er- not check. We pulled over on our way down to the ocean to pick up some sunscreen and some water for the remaining leg of our drive. After a quick scent test of all their products, the Walgreens Moisturizing Sunscreen made its way into my basket, and I’ll be damned if it’s not the best tutti-frutti smelling SPF on the market. And it wasn’t that I needed any convincing to buy my favorite brand of water, but Walgreens was offering $1 off each purchase that included sunscreen and smartwater. Smart and savvy, just the way I like to start my vacations.

It’s amazing how much our bodies need to be hydrated from the inside and outside during the summer. Our skin must work in overdrive to protect us from getting too dehydrated, so your best first line of defense is a high SPF. What I love about these Walgreens brand sunscreen products is that they smell great, and are paraben free, oxybenzone free, oil free and hypoallergenic so I don’t have to worry about being greasy or being exposed to unsavory chemicals. Coupled with drinking electrolyte rich water, like smartwater, and you won’t ever have to worry about drying up on the sandy beach.

BONUS – Walgreens wants to help keep your skin healthy on the inside and out so they’ve partnered with smartwater to offer a $1 off coupon for Balance Rewards members who buy one smartwater and one Walgreens brand suncare item.
